It’s been a week since the move to the new house and we – and the dust – are finally settling. Boxes are put away, keys are hanging on hooks, the cat is sprawled out in the sun and the world keeps turning. All in all, we’re transitioning well – especially O, who is telling everyone he has two houses (since his aunt bought his old one). A little confusing but he’s rolling with it all.
Our first Sunday in the new house was Father’s Day – or in this house, “First Annual Baba Appreciation Day”. My lovely wife gave me three great gifts (not counting the most wonderful one of all, pictured below): A “Baba” mug with a pic of me and my boy (perfect for the large amount of coffee it takes to keep up with him), a framed 8×10″ photo of me and O having adventures and a children’s “A-Z” book featuring all kinds of families with two moms and two dads (and some Babas, as O likes to point them out). Add in our trip to the Freez for vanilla and chocolate soft serve and it was a very lovely day indeed.
This weekend is a (very) brief respite before our wedding extravaganza next weekend…and no, we did not plan to move and marry back-to-back, but life is funny like that. Right now, the house is (relatively) clean, my kid is napping, the sun is shining and I’m about to go do some much needed yard work…we keep on keeping on.
I wanted to send a special thanks and shout-out to our family and friends who pitched in to help us haul arse across town last weekend. It was sweltering hot and there was lots to do, but you all showed up with good humor and can-do attitudes and there is no way we EVER could have done it without you. THANK YOU!
Happy First Day of Summer and Belated Baba’s (and Father’s) Day to All!
Homemade banana bread, coffee and Boo…spending Baba’s Day morning on the new deck.
